This month, we're so excited to share the story of Liz from the Evergreen Collective!
She was born in Manila, Philippines - but moved to Australia, where she's called home for 23 years now!
She's an avid traveller, dog lover, cares about the planet, loves to cook and entertain, and can't get enough of road trips.
To unwind, she loves photography and creating videos of her travels. 2 years ago she got into drones, so tries to take them out as much as she can.
She's moved around Australia - from Adelaide to Gold Coast, down to Melbourne - but she has and always will consider Melbourne home.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO DESIGN?
"I made a decision to transition from event management about 4 years ago - I studied Interior Design at Queensland College of Arts then continued my studies in Melbourne. I did an internship at a Melbourne Interior Design firm whilst studying. Eventually, with all the hard work I managed to get a position as a junior designer, then eventually into Visual merchandising and recently retail design for a national homeware company."
WHY I STARTED EVERGREEN COLLECTIVE ACCESSORIES
"I started the brand as a project during the second lockdown. Initially, I made handmade face masks as a way to help friends and family, so opening an online store came about organically. I also started the online store as a way to raise money and donate part of the sales towards Beyond Blue. I loved making handmade products that I decided to move into designing and making polymer clay earrings!"
THE BEST PARTS
"I love all aspects of the business both the creative and the business side!"
"Much like any other maker, I always wish for more time in a day. However, I have managed to overcome this by setting a routine, organising my workspace and making a full use of my e-commerce tools."
"Within this year, I'm hoping to extend my range into homewares!"
